DMM Advisory
Pricing and Classification — keeping you informed about the prices and mailing standards of the United States Postal Service
Customs Forms on Certain Priority Mail Items To or From "969" Zip Codes
We published a notice for comment in yesterday's Federal Register proposing to require Customs forms on all Priority Mail pieces weighing 16 ounces or more, as well as on Priority Mail items containing dutiable merchandise.
September 14 DMM Update
Postal Explorer (pe.usps.com) always provides the most up-to-date version of the DMM. It’s fully searchable and features fly-out menus and cross-reference links for easy navigation. Today we updated our mailing standards to capture the following changes:
Nominal
Rate for Periodicals Mail
We revised 707.6.1.2 to change the eligibility standards for Periodicals subscription prices. The new standards will
allow a reduction of up to 70 percent of the basic annual subscription rate for
a copy to be counted as part of the publication’s paid circulation.
Post Office Box and Caller Service Appeals
We are transferring responsibility
for post office box termination, caller service termination, and denial of
service appeals from the Judicial Officer to the Consumer Advocate. We revised 508.4.9.3 and 508.5.7.3 to
reflect this change.
Mailgrams
The Postal Service and Western Union agreed to end
Mailgram service. We deleted section 507.1.4.7 and revised sections 507.4.1.2, 604.5.3, and Exhibit 703.6.1.1.
Check the Summary of Changes for a complete listing of updates. You will find revisions listed by effective date and also by chapter, with clickable links to revised sections.
Our next update is scheduled for October 12.
